Ontario Liberals Announce Hon. Chrystia Freeland and Interim Leader John Fraser as Leadership Convention Co-Chairs

TORONTO, ON — The Hon. Chrystia Freeland and Interim Leader John Fraser are set to co-chair the upcoming Ontario Liberal Leadership Convention on March 6-7 in Mississauga.

This comes on the heels of the leadership election meetings when Ontario Liberals from all 124 local riding associations, in addition to student clubs and women’s clubs, cast their ballots at leadership election meetings to vote for the 2,084 delegates that will represent them at the
upcoming convention.

“Freeland is a champion of Liberal values both at home and abroad, fighting to preserve liberal democracy and national unity,” said Party President, Brian Johns.

Freeland will co-chair alongside Fraser who has led Ontario Liberals as their Interim Leader since shortly after the June 2018 election.

“Fraser’s leadership has been a shining light for our party, demonstrating the importance of putting people before politics and welcoming all Ontarians into our movement,” continued Johns.

Together, Freeland and Fraser will lead Ontario Liberals through an important weekend when they come together, choose our new leader, and continue the hard work of fighting for the next election.

All Ontario Liberal Party members are welcome to join the 2020 Leadership Convention in Mississauga. Even those who have not been elected as a delegate or alternate to the convention, will still be able to join as a non-voting attendee.

Registration for the Leadership Convention officially opened on Thursday February 13. Those looking for more information about registering can visit ontarioliberal.ca/leadership.
