Liberals in Waterloo Nominate Jennifer Tuck as Ontario Liberal Party Candidate

May 1, 2022 – Liberals in Waterloo have nominated Jennifer Tuck, the Chief Executive Officer of the Maritimes Energy Association (MEA), as their Ontario Liberal Party (OLP) candidate for the next provincial election.

A Kitchener resident, Jennifer is an expert in both energy, and natural resource conservation and development policy.

“Jennifer shares my passion for tackling today’s climate emergency, her deep knowledge and experience will help us both protect, and sustainably benefit from the economic potential of our natural resources,” said OLP Leader, Steven Del Duca. “Ontario Liberals are best positioned to beat the Ford Conservatives, and Jennifer’s expertise will be instrumental in that fight.”

Tuck joined the MEA as its CEO in September 2019 following almost a decade leading the regulatory affairs of the Canadian subsidiary of NextEra Energy Resources, the world’s largest producer of renewable, wind and solar energy. She also spent more than a decade with the Ontario Government where she served a Senior Policy Advisor in several portfolios including Energy, Natural Resources and Municipal Affairs and Housing. Tuck lives in Waterloo region, and has a B.A. (Hons) in Political Science from Western University in London, and a Master of Public Administration from Queen’s University.

Jennifer Tuck will bring her passion for the environment and public policy experience to Queen’s Park and be a champion for the community she hopes to represent.

“I am excited to have this opportunity to work to make a positive difference for the people of Waterloo and ensure their hopes, dreams and concerns are heard in the Ontario Legislature,” said Tuck. “I am running to protect our environment for future generations, to ensure all Ontarians have access to quality health care, including mental health services and to ensure everyone can afford a safe place to live.”
