Statement from Steven Del Duca on the Anniversary of the Danforth Shooting

Today marks the second anniversary since the tragic and senseless shooting on the Danforth.

Two years ago, Toronto and all of Ontario was shaken by the news that a gunman had opened fire during a busy summer night, wounding 13 people and killing two, 18-year-old Reese Fallon and 10-year-old Julianna Kozis.

This unspeakable and despicable act tore at the heart of Ontarians and Torontonians. It changed lives and ripped families apart. It remains a deep wound for many.

Today, we remember Reese – who was active in our Young Liberal movement – and Julianna, and think of the bright futures that were stolen from them. We thank the first responders that rushed to help. We think of their families and their communities, our hearts are with them.

Two years ago we created the Reese Fallon Fund to help young people get involved in politics. It’s made a real difference.

We will never forget Reese and Julianna.
