Statement From Steven Del Duca on the Anniversary of David Caplan’s Death

It’s hard to believe it’s been a whole year since we heard about the tragic passing of my friend and colleague David Caplan, who was taken from us too soon.

David had a passion for public service, and a deep well of care for his community. He was a dedicated and active member of Toronto’s Jewish community and the Ontario Liberal family.

Part of a political family, David’s mother Elinor was a cabinet minister in the provincial and federal governments. In 1997, David was sworn in to succeed his mother as the MPP for Oriole. He’d remain a fixture at Queen’s Park, serving in several ministerial portfolios, for 14 years.

David cared deeply for his constituents and was a strong voice for them in Ontario.

His family, his wife, Leigh, and his sons, Benjamin and Jacob, are in our thoughts today. We all miss you very much, David.
