Ontario Liberal Party Nominates Current MPP, Michael Coteau as 2022 Candidate for Don Valley East

July 23, 2020 – Liberals in Don Valley East have nominated Michael Coteau, current MPP and Critic for Economic Development, Job Creation and Trade, Labour, Training and Skills Development, Children, Community and Social Services, and the Anti-Racism Directorate, as their Ontario Liberal Party (OLP) candidate for the 2022 provincial election.

“I’m ecstatic to have my friend Michael, a strong member of the Ontario Liberal caucus, as our first candidate nominated for 2022,” said OLP leader, Steven Del Duca.”Michael’s credentials as a longtime local advocate for his community continue to make him the best person to represent Don Valley East.”

Having grown up in Don Valley East, Michael Coteau has a deep understanding of the challenges his constituents face – especially under a government whose track record is one program cut after another. Coteau was first elected as a Toronto District School Board school trustee in 2003 and then as an MPP in 2011, winning each of the six elections he’s run in.

Over the last 200 years, Liberals have stepped up to take on the biggest challenges of the day and prepare for the future,” said Coteau. “That is what we are called to do today: to work together, fight for our values, and defeat and replace Doug Ford.
