Steven Del Duca: Free to Join our Movement

Dear Friends,

I hope you and your family are well and staying safe. This is a difficult time for all of us. But your continued sacrifices are starting to make a real difference in fighting back against COVID-19.

It’s hard to believe that just 80 days ago, over 3,000 Liberals stood together in Mississauga at our Leadership Convention to begin laying the groundwork for victory in 2022. Since then, despite being unable to meet in person, we have shown just how much a united, energized, and hardworking Liberal family can achieve together.

Over the last few weeks, thousands of Ontario Liberals came together with the goal of opening up our party and growing our movement by updating what membership in our party means in this new decade.

Your feedback could not be clearer: we are building the most open and inclusive party in Ontario politics – and no one should have to pay to join our movement.

Earlier today, your Executive Council echoed your call by voting to make membership free within our party, ensuring all Ontarians are free to join our movement.

On June 1, I’ll be joining our Party President Brian Johns for his monthly conversation with party members and we will spend some time speaking with you about what this new direction means for our party. Watch for Brian’s email invitation to that conversation later this week.

In late June, Provincial Council members will vote on ratifying your decision to open up our party. And on July 1, 2020 – Canada Day – our party will celebrate a new era in our history by inviting all Ontarians to join us as party members.

This is an historic moment in Ontario politics. No other party has opened their doors so widely to the 15 million women and men who call this province home. But this is only the first step in our work to earn the support of the people of this province.

If the last 80 days hold any lessons, it’s that no challenge is too great for Ontario Liberals as we work together to build a Liberal future for Ontario.
