Time to Clean Up the Greenbelt Gravy Train

QUEEN’S PARK — John Fraser, Interim Leader of the Ontario Liberal Party and MPP for Ottawa South, has released the following statement:

“After months of applying pressure and holding the Conservatives to account, Ontarians have successfully forced Doug Ford to make a full reversal of his decision to crack open the Greenbelt.

“While the Greenbelt may be saved for now, we’re not even close to getting to the bottom of this $8.3 billion backroom deal.

“There remain too many unanswered questions the Premier wants us to forget. Like how is it that a handful of Doug Ford’s personal friends and fundraisers were set to receive an $8.3 billion payday?

“Or how is it that all roads seem to lead right back to the Premier’s Office in this $8.3 billion backroom deal?

“Doug Ford’s Greenbelt Gravy Train has derailed, and now we need to clean up the mess that has been left behind — so we can hold those who were responsible accountable for putting the interests of a few well-connected insiders ahead of the rest of us.

“Ontario Liberals will continue to fight for the Premier to end the coverup and open the books for a fair and transparent investigation.”
