The Buck Stops With Doug Ford

WINDSOR – Steven Del Duca, Leader of the Ontario Liberal Party, made the following statement:

“Doug Ford is missing in action on a safe return to school.

All Doug Ford has done is pass the buck to school boards, and hasn’t shown the leadership that anxious Moms and Dads across Ontario are desperately looking for.

Doug Ford has already told local school boards they have to dip into their reserve funds in order to access the meagre $30 million the government has announced. Sadly, close to half of school boards have no available reserves due to Ford’s cuts to education budgets last year.

It’s time for Doug Ford to step up and take responsibility. If the updated back to school plan doesn’t include significant and adequate new funding to deliver smaller class sizes, it will do nothing to ease the real fear that parents, students and educators are experiencing.

“We need the Premier to be thoughtful about his approach with the Education community – this starts first by listening to and consulting with them, now.”

Steven Del Duca has released a costed Students in Schools Action Plan.
