Steven Del Duca issues Statement on the 100th Anniversary of the Birth of Saint John Paul II

Today, many Ontarians recognize the 100th anniversary of the birth of Karol Wojtyla, Pope Saint John Paul II.

Pope John Paul II overcame multiple family tragedies and is considered by many to be Poland’s greatest son.

He was a witness to the cruelty and fascism of the nazis and played a pivotal role in the restoration of independence of many states.

A champion of human rights, he held great influence which he used for the betterment of people.

Pope John Paul II is a cherished figure for many Polish Ontarians who are rightly proud of his many accomplishments. He was a towering figure in the catholic church and will never be forgotten.

On behalf of the Ontario Liberal Party, I want to extend my best wishes to all those recognizing this important anniversary.
