Statement on July 17, 2024 FAO Q4 Expenditure Report

QUEEN’S PARK, ON — Stephanie Bowman, MPP for Don Valley West and Ontario Liberal Finance Critic, has released the following statement related to the Financial Accountability Office (“FAO”) 2023-24 Q4 Expenditure Monitor report:

“Today’s FAO report shows, once again, that Doug Ford’s priorities are not focused on the needs of the people of Ontario. While total spending for the year will rise to a record $204 billion, families will continue to face challenges in accessing the things they need the most: affordable housing, a family doctor, or school classrooms with air conditioning.

“Simply put, never has a government spent so much to deliver so little.

“Instead of putting families first, Doug Ford is more focused on lining the pockets of his insider friends. That’s why he made a $395 million cut to the Child Care and Early Years program, and instead spent $1 billion of your tax dollars to reward big box stores and large multinational breweries.

“Unlike Ford’s Conservatives, Bonnie Crombie and Ontario’s Liberals will bring back a government that fights for the people of Ontario.”
