Statement from Steven Del Duca on the Anniversary of the end of the Armed Conflict in Sri Lanka

Today marks the 11th anniversary of the armed conflict in Sri Lanka.

The conflict lasted over a quarter of a century and saw the deaths of as many as 100,000 people and the displacement of many more.

The wounds were deep, and scars from this terrible conflict will be felt for a long time.

Today, we remember those killed, displaced, wounded and scarred, and we remain hopeful that we will see the established a meaningful accountability process for survivors to find justice.

On behalf of the Ontario Liberal Party, I extend my deepest sympathies to Tamil-Ontarians, and all of those who suffered in that terrible conflict.
