Statement from Steven Del Duca on the anniversary of 9/11

Today marks the 19th anniversary of the September 11, 2001 tragedy – the deadliest terrorist attack in the history of the United States.

Nearly 3,000 lost their lives including 24 Canadians. I want to offer my condolences to the families of those we lost.

My thoughts are also with the survivors and their families.

Many brave first responders made the ultimate sacrifice and lost their lives racing into the buildings. Police officers and firefighters worked valiantly to rescue those they could. Many never returned home.

Today we reflect on the tragic loss of life, we remember the victims and we honour the courage of those who put their lives in danger to save others.
