Statement From Steven Del Duca On Minister Fullerton’s Long-Term Care Commission Testimony

Steven Del Duca, Leader of the Ontario Liberal Party, issued the following statement:

“Doug Ford had the opportunity to secure our nursing homes and put a real iron ring of protection around our most vulnerable seniors, but he ignored red flags from his Long-Term Care Minister. How many lives could have been saved had he acted on those warnings?

It shouldn’t be too much to ask for the Premier of Ontario to take the health and safety of our loved ones seriously, but he didn’t. His dithering in February 2020 led to nursing homes being hit brutally by the first wave of COVID-19.

In the wake of Minister Fullerton’s testimony before the Long-Term Care Commission, it’s clear that Doug Ford needs to appear before the commission and be held accountable for betraying Ontario’s most vulnerable seniors.”
