Statement from Steven Del Duca on Eid al-Adha

TORONTO – Today, Steven Del Duca, Leader of the Ontario Liberal Party, issued the following statement:

“Today, Muslims in Ontario and around the world will celebrate Eid al-Adha, which marks the end of Hajj and is a time to reflect on the importance of sacrifice and community service.

While public health restrictions are beginning to lift, this year’s celebrations, like last year’s, will surely still look very different because of the pandemic. But I know that the Muslim community will continue to find new and innovative ways to celebrate Eid al-Adha.

Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, Muslims in Ontario have also gone above and beyond to help communities all across our province. Whether it be working on the front lines, helping with vaccine deployment, or ensuring everyone has the support they need, Muslim Ontarians have done an exceptional job of keeping us all safe, and we cannot thank them enough for it.

It has also been an especially tough few months for the Muslim community in Ontario, which has experienced a rise in hateful and racist attacks rooted in Islamophobia. Ontario Liberals continue to stand with the Muslim community during this time, and we will continue to work towards eliminating all forms of hatred and bigotry in our province, and country.

On behalf of myself and the Ontario Liberal Party, I wish all Muslims in Ontario a happy, healthy and blessed Eid al-Adha.

Eid Mubarak!”
