Statement from Steven Del Duca on Doug Ford’s Updated Vaccine Rollout

TORONTO – Steven Del Duca, Leader of the Ontario Liberal Party, issued the following statement:

“Once again, Doug Ford doesn’t seem to be aware that our best response to the pandemic is to roll out a coherent and aggressive vaccination plan. Today’s announcement is just a validation of what Ontarians are already saying: we shouldn’t have faith in Doug Ford and his total inability to plan ahead.

It looks like the approval of the Johnson and Johnson vaccine caught the government of Canada’s biggest province by surprise, because today’s so-called strategy doesn’t even speak to it. So a week from now we’ll be back here, with another announcement, causing confusion again.

This is the same government that thinks it’s acceptable to have seniors literally waiting out in the cold for vaccinations, that doesn’t have a solution for online booking yet, and that took two months to reach nursing home residents that were supposedly the first priority.

Our seniors, our children, our health-care system, our front-line workers, and our economy can’t keep waiting as Doug Ford writes and tears up press release after press release instead of developing a real plan.”
