Statement from Steven Del Duca on Diwali and Bandi Chor Divas

TORONTO – Today, Steven Del Duca, Leader of the Ontario Liberal Party, issued the following statement:

“Today, in Ontario and all around the world, Hindu, Sikh, Jain and Buddhist communities will celebrate Diwali and Bandi Chor Divas.

During this time, Ontarians rejoice in the triumph of light over dark and good over evil, and the blessings of victory, freedom, and enlightenment.

Hindus, Sikhs, Jains and Buddhists have also contributed so much to our province, and to our country, and helped build up and strengthen Ontario. Above all, we thank these members of our communities for everything they have done, and sacrificed, to keep us safe during the COVID-19 pandemic.

I have always been a warm friend of the communities celebrating today. While we continue battling COVID-19, celebrations may once again look different than we’re all used to seeing. But I know that Hindus, Sikhs, Jains and Buddhists will continue finding new ways to celebrate safely.

On behalf of myself and the Ontario Liberal Party, I want to wish all those celebrating a happy Diwali and Bandi Chor Divas!
