Today I join with Italians around the world in celebration of Festa Della Republica, in commemoration of the fall of fascism and the establishment of the Italian Republic.
Rising from the rubble of WWII, the people of Italy voted in a referendum to establish a republic, and with it the birth of modern Italy.
Today, we honour the sacrifices made in the name of freedom and the triumph over oppression.
As a proud Italian-Canadian I join with Italians all over the world in wishing everyone a Buona Festa Della Republica!
