Statement from Ontario Liberal Leader Bonnie Crombie on Hanukkah

Tonight, the Jewish community here in Ontario and around the world will gather together to light the menorah and mark the first night of Chanukah.

Chanukah, also known as the Festival of Lights, commemorates the liberation of the Jewish people from oppression and serves as a reminder of the strength of the community. Over the next eight days Jewish people across Ontario will spin dreidels, eat latkes and spend time with family. Most importantly, they will light the candles of the menorah to symbolize the power of light conquering darkness.

At a time of rising antisemitism and fear among the community it is more important than ever to show allyship in standing against hate. More than ever, this should be a time to show support to one another across our great province.

On behalf of the Ontario Liberal Party I wish all of you a safe and festive Hanukkah.
