Statement from MPP John Fraser on Pride Month

QUEEN’S PARK – Today, MPP John Fraser, Interim Leader of the Ontario Liberal Party, released the following statement:

“Pride Month is an opportunity for us to celebrate all 2SLGBTQIA+ Ontarians, honour those who have fought for equality, and recognize that, while we have made incredible progress towards advancing equality for the 2SLGBTQIA+ community in Ontario, there is still a long way to go in the fight for equal rights.

“This year’s Pride month comes just days after the York Catholic District School Board voted against flying the Pride flag. The Pride flag is a symbol of inclusivity and our commitment to stand against hate, and in 2023, whether or not to fly the Pride flag should not even be up for debate – it should be a standard.

“It’s important that all students in Ontario feel safe and welcome in their schools, and Ontario Liberals stand with the 2SLGBTQIA+ community in encouraging the Premier and Minister to intervene on this important issue.

“On behalf of the Ontario Liberal Party, I’m wishing Ontario’s 2SLGBTQIA+ community a very happy Pride Month!”
