Public Education Advocate and High School Teacher Kelly Dunn Nominated as Ontario Liberal Candidate in Markham—Stouffville

MARKHAM, ON – Kelly Dunn, a public education advocate and high school teacher, has been officially nominated as the Ontario Liberal candidate for Markham—Stouffville.

“As a teacher with over twenty years of experience serving Ontario families, Kelly brings a wealth of experience and dedication to our Ontario Liberal team.

“Her perspective, guidance, and expertise will be invaluable to our mission to rebuild public education after years of Doug Ford’s cuts.”

— Bonnie Crombie, Leader of Ontario’s Liberals

“We deserve leaders that listen. Calls for better schools, care for seniors, health care accessibility, as well as walkable green spaces and livable communities can’t be ignored or placated with Conservative convenience store solutions.

“As an educator, I respond to every hand raised in the classroom and no one leaves feeling unheard. As the next Ontario Liberal MPP for Markham-Stouffville, I’ll always listen and together we’ll chart our path forward.”

— Kelly Dunn, Ontario Liberal Candidate for Markham—Stouffville

Kelly Dunn is proud to support the cause of public education as a high school History and Social Science teacher with over 20 years of experience. A Markham resident since 2003, Kelly’s passion for public service is shown in her active participation on the boards of the Women’s Liberal Association of York Region, the Social Planning Council of York Region, York Communities for Public Education, as well as her ongoing work with Alliance for a Liveable Ontario – York Region.

Advocating for better funding for education, support for seniors and their families, and promoting responsible growth in York Region are key issues for Kelly.

A longtime Liberal, Kelly has volunteered on various provincial and federal campaigns and was the OWLC VP for Central North from 2023-24.

Kelly and her husband Dave, a high school principal, have three children – Atticus, Quinn, and Eleanor. As a teacher, Kelly has been actively involved in her school community and has served as the teacher advisor for the Model United Nations Club, the Mock Trial team, and the Mental Health and Wellness day.
