Ontario’s Liberals to Demand More for Health Care in New Fall Legislative Session

QUEEN’S PARK—As MPPs return to the Legislature, the Ontario Liberal Caucus will make demanding more for health care their top legislative priority for the fall session.

Ontario’s health care system is in a state of emergency. Over 2.5 million people in Ontario don’t have access to primary care, and ER wait times continue to reach record highs.

The Ontario Liberal team will also continue to hold Doug Ford accountable for his shady, backroom deals that are solely designed to further enrich his already rich friends and insiders.

“Doug Ford’s only priority is to create opportunity for a very small handful of his rich friends and Conservative insiders.

“Meanwhile, we have a state of emergency in our healthcare system.

“So—our job is to use every day to drag your priorities to the attention of Doug Ford and force him to face his failures, and show you that you can choose a team that will get more for you.”

— Bonnie Crombie, Leader of Ontario’s Liberals

“Respiratory season hasn’t even started and all of Toronto’s hospitals are in surge. It’s much harder to keep a population healthy that doesn’t have basic access to primary care.

“We want Ontarians to dream big and demand more. You deserve a family doctor. You deserve a team of professionals including nurse practitioners, social workers, nurses, and others whose sole purpose is to help you when you’re sick and make you the best version of yourself when you’re not.”

— MPP Dr. Adil Shamji, Ontario Liberal Critic for Health

“It’s called primary care for a reason—it comes first. It’s the first step in our health care system, and it should be a top priority for this government. That’s why it’s our top priority for this fall legislative session.”

— MPP John Fraser, Ontario Liberal Critic for Seniors, Long-Term Care and Seniors Heath
