Ontario Liberal Priorities for the Return to the Legislature

TORONTO – Ontario Liberal Leader, Steven Del Duca issued the following statement:

“This pandemic has shown us just how much government decisions matter. At each critical moment, Doug Ford’s delayed and misguided actions have impacted millions of people’s lives.

As Ford finally goes back to work after his extended summer break, Ontario Liberals have not paused in our fight for the people of Ontario, and have demonstrated what an effective opposition can accomplish.

We will be pushing for safe classrooms, so vaccinated and unvaccinated children can learn safely.

We will be pushing for Doug Ford to sign a deal with the federal Liberal government for $10/day childcare – which was overwhelmingly supported at the ballot box last month.

We will continue speaking up on behalf of the vast majority of people who support vaccine mandates and strong, smart public health measures to get as many people as possible vaccinated and help our business owners recover.

We will be fighting to protect workers by keeping up the pressure for 10 provincially-funded paid sick days.

And we will continue demanding to see where the billions in unspent pandemic funds have gone, and why so many of Doug Ford’s actions seem to directly benefit his well-connected friends.

Throughout this pandemic our team has been showing Ford what effective government policy looks like. Ontario Liberals intend to keep up that hard work as the Legislature returns next week to help deliver the strong leadership that’s been so desperately lacking in Ontario.”
