TORONTO, ON – Today, the Ontario Liberal Party Executive Council voted unanimously to support Bonnie Crombie remaining as party Leader.
“Ontario Liberals have seen significant momentum over the course of this election. We regained official party status for the first time in seven years — against the toughest odds. There is no one better equipped to lead our party into government than Bonnie Crombie. She has our full support.”
— Kathryn McGarry, President of the Ontario Liberal Party
The Ontario Liberal Party raised $4 million dollars since January 1st and received 30% of the popular vote, increasing the vote share by almost 400,000. We elected five new MPPs, flipping both PC and NDP ridings, and re-elected nine MPPs.
The Ontario Liberal Party Executive Council commends Bonnie Crombie for her strong and fierce leadership through a cynical 28-day snap election in the dead of winter.
“Rebuilding takes time. Bonnie Crombie has led our party back to a position of strength, motivating over 1.5 million people across the province to vote Liberal. That is no small feat. She has our full support.”
— Kathryn McGarry, President of the Ontario Liberal Party
“I am grateful to have the support of Executive Council as we continue the hard work that needs to be done to rebuild our party. It won’t be easy, but nothing worth doing ever is. I believe in this party, I believe in our vision and I am determined to stay on as leader.”
— Bonnie Crombie, Leader of Ontario’s Liberals
There will be a formal leadership review at a later date that is to be determined.
