Notice to Leadership Convention Attendees

The Ontario Liberal Party has been advised by Toronto Councillor Josh Matlow that he has, out of an abundance of caution, self-isolated himself after learning today that an individual who has tested positive for COVID-19 is someone that he had come into close contact with last Thursday, March 5.

Mr. Matlow was in attendance at this past weekend’s OLP leadership convention. Thankfully, Mr. Matlow has indicated that he was and continues to be asymptomatic. As such, Toronto Public Health has advised us that, in accordance with current public health practice and evidence, attendants at the OLP Leadership convention do not require public health follow up as a result of any contact they may have had with Mr. Matlow and are advised to continue with regular routines and activities.

In addition, public health professionals continue to provide the following advice to prevent the transmission of respiratory illness:

  1. Wash your hands frequently and thoroughly with soap and water or use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer.
  2. Cover your mouth and nose when you cough, or sneeze.
  3. If you don’t have a tissue, sneeze or cough in your sleeve.
  4. Stay at home when you are sick.
