New FAO Report Proves Government’s Numbers Can’t be Trusted

OTTAWA, ON – John Fraser, MPP for Ottawa South and Interim Leader of the Ontario Liberal Party, has released the following statement in response to the report released by the Financial Accountability Office of Ontario (FAO):

“If the Ford Conservatives have taught us anything, it’s that the government’s numbers can’t be trusted.

“They have consistently, and intentionally, overstated program spending and deficit projections as an attempt to get away with underspending on healthcare and education.

“It is unconscionable that at a time when emergency rooms are closing and there are tremendous staffing pressures in hospitals and long-term care, they continue their shell game.

“I urge the government to stop patting itself on the back for a moment and get to work on what matters most to Ontario families – real investments that will fix the crisis in healthcare and improve our schools.”
