Liberals in Kanata—Carleton Nominate Shahbaz Syed as 2022 Ontario Liberal Party Candidate

November 27, 2021 – Liberals in Kanata—Carleton have nominated Shahbaz Syed, a financial executive and community leader, as their Ontario Liberal Party (OLP) candidate for the next provincial election.

“Shahbaz is a strong leader with a real passion to help families in Kanata—Carleton get ahead,” said OLP Leader, Steven Del Duca. “I am very happy to have Shahbaz on our team as we prepare to take on Doug Ford in the next provincial election.”

Shahbaz Syed is a Canadian of Pakistani origin who immigrated with his family to Canada in 2010. He has been living in Kanata since 2014 with his wife and their four children.

Syed is an accomplished International Finance Executive and educationist who has worked in many jurisdictions around the world. He has received professional training at world-class institutions and holds globally recognized qualifications in the field of finance including CFA, FRM, CMA and an MBA.

As a community leader, Syed has been actively involved in his community, volunteers, and helps lead social and charitable causes. He looks forward to utilizing his experience and skills to make Kanata—Carleton an even better place for families and businesses to thrive.

“I am honoured to be the Ontario Liberal Candidate for Kanata—Carleton,” said Syed. “I bring years of experience in Public and Private Sectors to the table, and will ensure the concerns of our community are heard, and addressed, at Queen’s Park.”
