Hunter: Ford Cottage Visit Inexcusable

TORONTO – Mitzie Hunter, Ontario Liberal MPP, made the following statement:

The Premier for weeks has told Ontarians not to go to the cottage – but it’s do as I say not as I do. There are no acceptable explanations for the Premier’s behaviour.

The Premier should have prioritized the people of Ontario first and his cottage second. That didn’t happen.

No one believes he had to be there in person to fix his plumbing.

So, there are one set of rules for Ontarians and another set of rules for the Premier. When he said that he couldn’t hold Ontarians back from the cottage – what he really meant was that he couldn’t stop himself.

What other guidelines has the Premier broken?

How many other Ontario PC MPPs have gone up to their cottage?

People are obeying the rules. They are staying at home. Many have lost their jobs, and are seeing their businesses fall apart. We are all supposed to be collectively sharing this burden to protect the most vulnerable.

The Premier didn’t do his part, it’s as simple as that.

How can he ask Ontarians to sacrifice when he refused to do so?
