OTTAWA, ON – John Fraser, MPP for Ottawa South and Interim Leader of the Ontario Liberal Party, has released the following statement:
“Today, Premier Ford tried to defend his $8.3 billion cash-for-your-land scheme that benefited his friends and well-connected insiders.
“He is trying to play us all for fools.
“Ontarians know it is simply not believable that one political staffer — a rookie chief of staff — was behind all of this.
“Minister Clark and Premier Ford brought this scheme forward and supported it at cabinet. That was wrong.
“Three things need to happen.
- Minister Clark must resign.
- Premier Ford must open the books on this scandal.
- Taxpayers dollars must not be used to pay the legal costs of anyone implicated in any investigation.
“At a time when many Ontario families are struggling to pay bills Premier Ford has been focused on helping his friends.”
