TORONTO – Steven Del Duca, Leader of the Ontario Liberals, made the following statement:
Doug Ford has finally woken up and closed indoor dining, casinos and gyms in COVID-19 hotspots. I’ve been voicing the concerns of medical experts and hospital staff that have called for these exact changes. A delay was never needed, Doug Ford should have acted weeks ago but instead, he has lost control and is now scrambling.
The government’s own experts disclosed today that COVID-19 related hospitalizations have risen by 250% over the past 3 weeks. But Doug Ford ignored the alarm bells and lost control. Now he’s scrambling to figure out what to do next.
It’s time for full disclosure. All information and advice Doug Ford is getting on COVID-19 must be made public. It should be updated on a regular basis, so decision making is transparent. Ontarians deserve to know what advice Ford is acting on, and who is giving that advice.
We need a Premier with a plan. We need real leadership without delay to keep our parents and grandparents safe.
