Liberals in Flamborough–Glanbrook Nominate Melisse Willems as Ontario Liberal Party Candidate

April 26, 2022 – Liberals in Flamborough–Glanbrook have nominated Melisse Willems, a healthcare advocate and former Executive Director at the College of Dietitians, as their Ontario Liberal Party (OLP) candidate for the next provincial election.

“Melisse understands our healthcare system and where we can do better for families across this province,” said OLP Leader, Steven Del Duca. “Melisse will be a fantastic MPP and I am very happy to have her on our team.”

Willems started her career as a lawyer in 2003 and very quickly discovered her passion for working in the public interest. That passion brought her through a series of increasingly senior roles within Ontario’s health profession regulators working to ensure the safe, ethical and competent practice of Ontario’s health professionals. Her career experience has been complemented by volunteer roles in health care organizations, most recently at a hospital in her community. Willems completed her undergraduate and legal studies at Queen’s University in Kingston and holds masters degrees from York University and Osgoode Hall Law School.

“As someone who has worked for almost 20 years to support patients, I don’t want us to forget the lessons of the pandemic about public health, long-term care, mental health and front-line services,” said Willems. “I am committed to being a strong advocate for the people of Flamborough–Glanbrook to make sure that doesn’t happen.”
