Learn to Be A Sommelier with your Beaches-East York Ontario Liberals

This holiday season will be unlike any other but the Beaches-East York PLA will help you make the most of your socially distant celebrations and gift-giving!

Join your local Ontario Liberals and our new candidate, Mary-Margaret McMahon, for a fun hour of wine, conversation and information as we learn some sommelier skills to help us pick great bottles for the holidays.

The event is being hosted online via Zoom and a link will be sent to you the day of the event.

Ryan The Flying Somm Sullivan – an instructor with Hyr Live and a certified sommelier – will lead us though a personal wine tasting!  His goal is that by the end of the class you will be an unofficial sommelier. You will blind taste a white and red wine selection as Ryan guides you to taste and learn the difference, using words like acid, tannin, body and alcohol. The wines Ryan will use are from Ontario and available at the LCBO. The white is a Tawse Quarry Road Chardonnay, and the red is a Featherstone Cabernet Franc, both hailing from Vineland, Ontario. Ryan has selected these as great examples to work with, but you can try using your own light and crisp Chardonnay and a medium-bodied, fruity Cabernet Franc.
