Even With Strings Attached, Doug Ford Can’t be Trusted

OTTAWA, ON – Following the meeting of Canada’s First Ministers and the Prime Minister to discuss healthcare funding, John Fraser, MPP for Ottawa South and Interim Leader of the Ontario Liberal Party, released the following statement:

“More money for healthcare is a good thing, but we know that with Doug Ford, even when strings are attached, he can’t be trusted. He has continually overstated deficits and budgets, and then underspent on healthcare and education.

“During the pandemic, we saw billions of dollars sent from the Federal Government for healthcare…that were never used for healthcare. Now, Doug Ford says the only solution to fix the crisis in healthcare, is to introduce more profiteering.

“With this new Federal money, we need to make sure Doug Ford doesn’t do the same thing that he did with the Greenbelt – carve it up and give it to his friends and insiders.

“All new healthcare money must go towards helping our publicly funded, not-for-profit hospitals and community clinics, and the people who work in them.”
