TORONTO – Steven Del Duca, Leader of the Ontario Liberal Party, issued the following statement:
“Ontario’s Islamic community is grieving and Doug Ford has shown us where he stands on Islamophobia. His government just blocked an Ontario Liberal motion to condemn Islamophobia. It’s shocking this government would be against something so universally called-for this week.
Ontario Liberals are also calling for a 6 month plan for action on addressing systemic racism and a National Summit on Islamophobia.
It’s sad that Doug Ford is too focused on clinging to power by tearing up our Charter to show Ontario’s Islamic community he’s on the right side of history.”
