OTTAWA, ON – John Fraser, MPP for Ottawa South and Interim Leader of the Ontario Liberal Party, has released the following statement:
“Today, Doug Ford said he may return two parcels of lands, hand-picked by rich developers, back to the Greenbelt. It’s a desperate attempt to distract the people of Ontario by trying to hide the tip of the iceberg. He thinks he can hide all that’s underneath.
“Other Greenbelt lands have already been flipped and profits have already been made. The damage is done. The lands in question are just a small piece of Doug Ford’s $8.3 billion Greenbelt giveaway that made well-connected insiders and Premier Ford’s friends richer.
“If the Premier were serious, he would accept the Auditor General’s recommendation to return all lands back to the Greenbelt.
“Three things need to happen:
- Minister Clark must resign.
- Premier Ford must open the books on this scandal.
- Taxpayers dollars must not be used to pay the legal costs of anyone implicated in any investigation.
