Doug Ford Endorses McVety’s Platform of Hate

TORONTO – Steven Del Duca, Leader of the Ontario Liberal Party, issued the following statement:

“Doug Ford and his Conservative government are using their majority to force through a reward for outspoken homophobe, Islamophobe and bigot Charles McVety. Doug Ford has failed the many communities McVety targets in his hateful rants.

Ontario Liberals, along with groups representing those McVety has targeted over the years, have pushed back nonstop since this appalling reward was snuck into emergency COVID legislation.

While Doug Ford was meant to be leading Ontario through the second wave, he focused all of his energy on this unfair kickback for his friend. The rest of us suffered for it.

Charles McVety doesn’t deserve to have the authority to grant university degrees, and he won’t under an Ontario Liberal government. We would reverse Doug Ford’s bill of bigotry immediately.”
