Doug Ford Doesn’t Want to Have an Election About Health Care. Too Bad.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
January 26, 2025

TORONTO, ON —On the eve of a cynical, early election, Bonnie Crombie released the following statement:

“Doug Ford doesn’t want to have an election about health care because he doesn’t want to answer for his failures. More than 2,000 people are being treated in hallways, break rooms, gyms, and even on the floor.

11,000 people died waiting for care last year.

13,000 Ontarians have lost their lives to the opioid crisis since Doug Ford took office.

200,000 people in this province are homeless.

Taxes are up. Business confidence is down. And thousands of patients are dying on waitlists every year.

Enough is enough.

We won’t let Doug Ford get away with this. He doesn’t get to run from his job and duck responsibility in the face of Trump’s tariffs. He is going to answer for the failures here in Ontario.

Seven years ago, Doug Ford promised to end hallway health care. He didn’t get it done. In fact, things have gotten worse. Now, patients aren’t just in hallways—they’re being treated on floors and in gyms.

Doug Ford had a choice: put you and your family first. And every single time, he has failed to make the right one.

I won’t.

I will wake up every single day thinking of you and fighting for the three things that matter most to the people of Ontario:

Fixing health care, lowering taxes and building homes that people can actually afford.

This election isn’t about Doug Ford’s political games. It’s about his failures. It’s about the lives at stake. And it’s about delivering the kind of leadership that puts the people of this province first.

This election is a fight to deliver more for the people of Ontario — you and your family.

Doug Ford doesn’t want to have this election about health care. Too bad.

We’re going to make it about exactly that.”
