DEL DUCA: Our Kids Deserve a Stable Education

TORONTO – Ontario Liberal Leader, Steven Del Duca issued the following statement:

“Since the beginning of this pandemic, we’ve seen province-wide school closures during two separate school years, and now we’re seeing some schools close in the third. As the father of two daughters who attend publicly funded schools, I know how difficult these closures have been for us all, but especially for our children.

Months ago, Ontario Liberals called for an Education Recovery plan. A plan to not only make sure students are safe, but also to make sure they catch up on lost learning by giving them a stable school year. Doug Ford ignored that plan, and now we’re already seeing schools close in communities across Ontario, robbing those children of another stable year.

It’s not too late for Doug Ford to step up and invest some of the billions he’s sitting on to get class sizes under control, or to mandate vaccines for eligible students. He should be using every tool at his disposal to keep schools open.

Some of the most formative years of our children’s lives have been a chaotic and confusing mess. Students and parents need Doug Ford to step up and start taking action to prevent any schools from closing again.”
