Crombie blasts Ford’s deliberate undermining of post-secondary education

TORONTO, ON – Bonnie Crombie, Leader of the Ontario Liberal Party, released the following statement blasting the Ford government’s deliberate failures, which have caused a crisis in postsecondary education:

“We understand that later today, the Ford government will announce a band-aid solution to the problems they have caused in our postsecondary education system. The sad reality is, when it comes to our colleges and universities, Ontario has now hit rock bottom.

“We’re dead last among all provinces in Canada when it comes to funding our universities and colleges. Because of Doug Ford, it’s no wonder that ten out of twenty-three public universities in Ontario are now reporting deficits.

“Ontario is at a crossroads today because of Ford’s choices. I want a renewed focus on making Ontario a global leader in higher education and training. We’ve got to invest in our institutions. We’ve got to ensure that if you get the grades, you get to go. And we’ve got to address these shady private, for-profit career colleges.”
