Liberals in Cambridge Nominate Surekha Shenoy as 2022 Ontario Liberal Party Candidate

February 19, 2022 – Liberals in Cambridge have nominated Surekha Shenoy, a business professional and community advocate, as their Ontario Liberal Party (OLP) candidate for the next provincial election.

“Surekha is a fantastic leader who is always looking for ways to help her community and those that call Cambridge home,” said OLP Leader, Steven Del Duca. “Surekha will be a tremendous MPP and I am very glad to have her on our team.”

Surekha Shenoy has a passion for volunteering with a track record of supporting social causes and community initiatives, such as mentoring ‘Youth on Board’, the Trinity Community Table and the Self Help Food Bank. As the past Chair & Director of the Cambridge Memorial Hospital Foundation, Surekha has championed many initiatives for the Foundation to help improve patient care in the community. Shenoy currently sits on the Board of Directors for Hospice Waterloo Region and is Co-Chair of the East Indian Community Walkathon of Waterloo Region that has raised over $400,000 for local hospitals.

As a professional, Shenoy has spent most of her career as an executive in the banking sector managing the small business portfolio for a leading financial institution. Shenoy has her M.Sc. in Industrial Systems Engineering from the University of Regina and an MBA in Finance and Operations from Wilfrid Laurier University in Waterloo.

“I am deeply concerned about the unaffordability of homes and the threat of climate change to our lives and our futures,” said Shenoy. “Steven Del Duca is focused on these key concerns shared by all Ontarians and is the right person to lead Ontario beginning June 2.”
