A Fair Deal Must be Reached with Ontario’s Education Workers

QUEEN’S PARK – Mitzie Hunter, MPP for Scarborough–Guildwood and Deputy Leader of the Ontario Liberal Party, has issued the following statement in response to the decision for 55,000 school support staff to go on strike:

“Since the beginning of these negotiations, Doug Ford and Stephen Lecce have refused to entertain the idea of providing our education support workers with the compensation they deserve.

“By short-changing those that play such an essential role in our children’s lives, this government has done nothing but put our students’ success at risk.

“It is up to Doug Ford and Stephen Lecce to reverse course and get to the negotiating table to hammer out a fair deal for education support workers. There is still time to avoid disruption in schools and ensure students have the supports they need.”
