TORONTO – Steven Del Duca, Leader of the Ontario Liberal Party, made the following statement:
“Today, Doug Ford reversed the reckless decision he made two years ago, and confirmed that a York University satellite campus will be built in the City of Markham.
While it’s never the wrong time to do the right thing, this is yet another flip-flop decision that cost valuable time, money, and resources. Ford lost two years and has set-back the state of post-secondary education in one of the fastest growing regions in the province.
We need to be competitive and forward thinking. Indecision is a barrier to innovation in Ontario.
I applaud the incredibly steadfast advocacy of York University, the City of Markham and York Region and I congratulate them on their considerable achievement.
And I call on Doug Ford to confirm that satellite university campuses will also proceed in both Milton and Brampton, as was originally planned.”
