Ontario Liberal Party Grows to 37,831 Members

Thousands of Ontarians to participate in 2020 Leadership Election

Toronto, ON – In advance of the leadership convention in March 2020, membership of the Ontario Liberal Party has surged to 37,831 strong.

Members who signed up prior to December 2 are eligible to participate in Leadership Election Meetings (LEMs), taking place across the province on February 8th and 9th, 2020. The LEMs will present the first opportunity for members to vote for their next leader.

“I am so pleased to welcome so many new members into our party at this crucial moment in our history. It is a wonderful endorsement of our brand and our values to have so many new members join our ranks,” said Ontario Liberal Party President Brian Johns.

Six official candidates will compete for support from members at upcoming LEMs: Michael Coteau, Steven Del Duca, Kate Graham, Brenda Hollingsworth, Mitzie Hunter, and Alvin Tedjo.

“Ontarians want strong, responsible leadership, and they know that each of the candidates running to lead our party and our province are capable of providing that leadership,” Johns continued. “Members of the Ontario Liberal Party and all Ontarians will be able to hear from them directly at our ongoing leadership debates.”

Ontario Liberal Party leadership debates will continue to take place across the province in Sudbury, Ottawa, Markham, and Toronto.
