Statement from Nathalie Des Rosiers, MPP for Ottawa–Vanier on her resignation date

“Today, I delivered my letter of resignation to the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly of Ontario, effective immediately. My community office will remain open after my departure until the by-election takes place.

“It has been an honour and a privilege to serve the community of Ottawa – Vanier. I have had the opportunity to work closely with so many community leaders and remain in awe of their dedication. I will always treasure these memories.

“It is with a heavy heart that I resign my seat. This decision was never an easy one to take and has weighed on me throughout the summer as I continued to work with the residents of my wonderful riding, Ottawa – Vanier. Your passion will continue to be sources of inspiration for me.

“On a personal note, I would like to thank my staff, Mary-Liz Power, Sarah Laliberté, Marie-Lise Leduc, Sarah Rimbach and Edwina Mayama, my past constituency staff, Camille Marcil, Lyse- Pascale Inamuco and Micheline Laflamme, and all of the employees at the ministries where I served, in particular, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry.

“To the legislative staff, both of members and of the Assembly, thank you for your dedication and hard work over the past few years. It has been a real pleasure to witness your great professionalism. I also want to thank my colleagues from all parties for their friendship and all the good wishes that I have received.

“To my colleagues in the Independent group, it has been a pleasure working for you to secure our ability to represent our constituents and have our voices heard at the Legislative Assembly. Keep up the good work.

“To my special colleagues from the Ontario Liberal Party, this has been the opportunity of a lifetime. Thank you for the chance to be part of the team and for your continued confidence in me. I will always admire your steadfast and excellent contributions to public life.

“Ontario’s democracy requires nurturing and respect, a duty that belongs to all of us. Let’s never squander it.

“I look forward to continuing to work for Ontarians in my capacity as Principal of Massey College.”
