Ford Resorts to Lying about Crombie

TORONTO, ON — The Ontario Liberal Press Office today released the following statement:

“Doug Ford is running scared and resorting to lying about Bonnie Crombie.

“He’s scared of the looming criminal RCMP investigation into his shady backroom deals, and he’s scared of the movement Bonnie Crombie and Ontario’s Liberals are building across our province.

“He’s resorted to lying about Bonnie Crombie in a desperate attempt to change the channel on his failed government. His latest weak attempt at lying about Bonnie Crombie comes on the same day he locked in his $1,000,000,000 government hand-out to his friends at the multinational brewers, big grocers, and international convenience store chains.

Here’s the fact check:

  • “Bonnie was one of the first people to support a carbon tax.” Bonnie Crombie does not support imposing a carbon tax on the people of Ontario.
  • “She raised taxes every year she was mayor.” As Mayor for over a decade, Bonnie Crombie kept taxes low, to an average of 1.6%. The Ford brothers in half the time raised taxes on average 1.59%.
  • “She wants to raise taxes on gas.” She’s never said anything of the kind.
  • “She’ll bring back road tolls and the licence plate sticker fee.” This is untrue.
  • “Now she wants to hike taxes on beer and wine.” Bonnie Crombie has never suggested raising taxes on beer and wine.
  • “Bonnie Crombie will cost you.” Unlike Doug Ford, Bonnie Crombie will save you and your family money while getting the public services you rely on, back on track.
