TORONTO, ON – Bonnie Crombie, Leader of Ontario’s Liberals, released the following statement in response to Housing Minister Paul Calandra’s latest failed housing announcement:
“After over six years in office, the Ford Conservatives have failed to build housing, making Ontario homes and rents even more expensive. In fact, while the country saw a 7% increase in housing starts, Ontario saw a 14% decrease because of failed Ford policies.
“Rather than build new housing, Ford instead tried to give away the Greenbelt, triggering a criminal RCMP investigation into this $8.3-billion cronyism scandal.
“Like everything with Doug Ford, it’s not about helping Ontario families; it’s about making his already rich friends richer.
“Ontario’s Liberals have a smart plan to get housing built so every Ontario family has an affordable place to call home.”
