“Ted is a dedicated Member of Provincial Parliament who is always looking for ways to help those he serves. He is an integral part of our Ontario Liberal team and I am thrilled to once again have him as our candidate for Kingston and the Islands.”
— Bonnie Crombie, Leader of Ontario’s Liberals
“I am eager to tackle the crises of our time such as affordability, housing, health, climate, and education, as the representative of the people of Kingston and the Islands. I am pleased and proud to have the opportunity to do so as part of Bonnie Crombie’s talented Ontario Liberal team. Bonnie’s energetic and hard working leadership are what’s needed to beat Doug Ford’s Conservatives in the next election.”
— Ted Hsu, MPP and Ontario Liberal Candidate for Kingston and the Islands
Ted Hsu (pronounced “SHOE”) lives in Kingston, Ontario with his wife and two daughters. Ted’s parents immigrated to Kingston in 1964, and he grew up in the Calvin Park area of Kingston, attending St. Thomas More and LCVI.
Ted’s diverse background of experiences helped him to understand the biggest challenges of the people of Kingston and the Islands and he became an effective legislator for those who reside here.
In 2011, Ted was elected Member of Parliament for Kingston and the Islands, one of very few scientists in parliament. In 2014-2015, Ted revived and led a national campaign which restored the long-form census, delivering vital information to our society.
In 2015, Ted successfully finished his term and announced he would not seek re-election. That decision in 2015 was a hard one, but right for his family at that time. Five years later, Ted chose to once again serve the residents of Kingston and the Islands as an elected representative, and in 2022, he was elected as a Member of Provincial Parliament.
In 2023, Ted toured the whole province and got to know policy from a whole-of-government perspective while running for the leadership of the Ontario Liberal Party. He is excited to put that experience to use working under new leader Bonnie Crombie.
