Ford’s Stunts and Political Theatre is Hurting Ontario Families

QUEEN’S PARK – Following an unambitious do-nothing budget, Ontario’s Liberals are holding Doug Ford accountable for spending all his time, energy and taxpayer money to help his wealthy friends — instead of helping Ontario families.

Over 40 sitting days, the Ford Conservatives rose in the legislature 272 times to ask about the Carbon Tax, and introduced 6 Private Members’ motions on the Carbon Tax. The Conservatives rose all of two times to ask about healthcare and again only twice to ask about the environment.

“This government is wasting everyone’s time, and if there’s one thing their do-nothing budget made clear, it’s that they have no intention of doing anything to help the people of Ontario.”

— Bonnie Crombie, Leader of Ontario’s Liberals

Last night, the very person who had to resign from cabinet because of the scandalous Greenbelt giveaway, which is now under RCMP investigation, moved a motion to, yet again, distract from this failure of a budget and from the fact that Doug Ford is content to stick his head in the sand and pretend that Ontario doesn’t need to have any plan for climate change.

“Ontario Liberals will not entertain these motions that are nothing but political theatre meant to distract from Doug Ford’s inaction. Don’t forget: the only reason Ontario has a carbon tax is because Doug Ford spent millions to up the made-in-Ontario climate action plan he inherited.”
