Liberals in York—Simcoe Nominate Walter Alvarez-Bardales as 2022 Ontario Liberal Party Candidate

April 20, 2022 – Liberals in York—Simcoe have nominated Walter Alvarez-Bardales, a human rights and ethics advocate, as their Ontario Liberal Party (OLP) candidate for the next provincial election.

“Walter is a local champion whose passion for his community shows in all of his work,” said OLP Leader, Steven Del Duca. “He’s a strong fighter and will be an effective voice at Queen’s Park for the people of York—Simcoe.”

Born in Guatemala, Alvarez-Bardales left to escape war and poverty at a young age.
Walter became a successful civil servant despite facing many struggles during his journey to Canada, including hunger and homelessness.

He holds a Master of Business Administration in Community Economic Development
program from Cape Breton University. Alvarez-Bardales also holds a university certificate in Business Management from Ryerson University and a bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from Athabasca University. His passion for learning has led him to become a doctoral candidate in Social Sciences and the recipient of the Doctoral Entrance Scholarship at Royal Roads University.

“I believe my improbable journey is a testament to the greatness and compassion of the people of Ontario and under the leadership of Steven del Duca and his diverse team, we can steer the province on a path of prosperity for all Ontarians,” said Alvarez-Bardales. “Rest assured, I will fight with all my love, intellect, and strength for the people of York—Simcoe.”
