After Months in Hiding, Doug Ford Comes Back With No Agenda

TORONTO – Ontario Liberal Leader, Steven Del Duca issued the following statement:

“During an incredibly difficult year for us all, we have been left to rely on a government content to do as little as possible, as late as possible. Today’s Speech from the Throne is no exception to that disappointing trend.

Parents, especially working mothers, were looking for a promise of $10/day childcare, but they were abandoned.

Students, and their families, were looking for safe classrooms and support to help with their recovery and make up for lost learning. Yet the word education wasn’t used once in the speech.

Our most vulnerable were hoping for stronger vaccine mandates, without the dangerous loopholes that have been part of every vaccine measure introduced by Doug Ford, but they were forgotten.

Workers on the frontlines have been betrayed, once again left to work without the 10 days of provincially-funded paid sick leave they deserve.

None of the priorities Ontario Liberals highlighted last week were included in today’s speech. Only Ontario Liberals are fighting for parents, for our most vulnerable, and for frontline workers.”
