DEL DUCA: Why is Paid Sick Leave Only on the Table Now?

TORONTO – Steven Del Duca, Leader of the Ontario Liberal Party, issued the following statement:

“We are more than a year into a global pandemic and Doug Ford has finally realized the importance of paid sick leave. I’m glad he is belatedly considering it, but how many people had to get sick or even die because of his negligence?

There is simply no excuse for it taking this long. Experts were calling for it all along. Maybe if Doug Ford would spend more time working on the pandemic response and less time on $1,000 a head fundraisers, he wouldn’t be so slow to act.

His dithering and delaying on paid sick leave, and virtually every other public health measure is why he needs to resign. He’s the worst possible Premier during a time when we need leadership most.”
